Highest-grossing Films
by isaac on Jan.05, 2010, under Movies, Thoughts
I was reading about this Avatar Becomes First Sci-Fi Movie Ever to Pull in $1B USD Worldwide, then shot TS Lim a message about how Avatar was going to beat Titanic way sooner than expected. It then became a conversation about what movies were the highest grossing ever. Did a Google search & it pointed me to this, List of highest-grossing films at Wikipedia. Below is the top 10 I pulled from their page.

Avatar is sitting at no 4 now which is crazy considering when it was released. If it continues it’s current pace it should pass Titanic by February 2010 but that is of course, too optimistic. Maybe by June 2010? More realistic it would seem. Who knows right?
I then noticed something else. An anomaly in the list of top 50. At no 37 was The Twilight Saga: New Moon with $682,254,655 in earnings. Wow Twillight fans must be dancing with joy! Haha! In case you’re wondering what my opinion of Twillight is, allow me to point to a review I found to be most fitting, The Twilight Saga: New Moon (Reviewed by Sebastian Ng) at KLue. ‘Nuff said.
A New Year!

Happy New Year peeps! Can’t believe another year has just blew past. I thought I could post a few more posts before the new year came along, but my laptop decided to take a holiday first. The victim of the now infamous Nvidia ‘Bumpgate’ issue. Feel free to click on the link if you do not know about this phenomenon. Thankfully, Dell managed to fix my laptop on 31/12/2009, giving me more cheers for the new year.
I took the final week of last year off, to burn some extra leave I had & to also get some R&R. Managed to watch 2 great movies, Sherlock Holmes & Avatar. Also tried out a cinema that I didn’t put much hope on & it surprised me. Haha. I guess there’s still room for improvement but I’ll talk about that & the movies in another post.
Finally, I kind of completed my collection of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen figures, at least the ones I really wanted to get in 2009. Though to be honest, I do not think I can ever say it’s complete, depending on what I want to add more with the upcoming figures still to be released. Looks like I’ve gone Transformers crazy again, like I did some 15 years ago. But I have to say, the figures now are an amazing work of engineering, vehicles that can transform into robots that look like the actual robot & have great articulation to boot! 15 years back, these figures are just vehicles that look good but transform into some robot that have a vague resemblance to the character it’s supposed to be. Worse, articulation is almost non-existent. The most you can do is move the arms of the robots, if you’re lucky. Now, I’m constantly awed by the creativeness in which they can manage to get these figures designed. And I found myself in love again, with Transformers figures.
I guess this is an appetizer so to speak, so that I can structure my upcoming posts based on stuff from this posts. LOL. Ah well, have to start somewhere right? Here are some pics to wet your appetite more, hopefully.
